How To Backup FTP Voyager¨ Settings

If you've got a lot of important sites stored in FTP Voyager or just don't want to lose the settings that you've spent time getting just right, then this is definately something you'll want to read.

Backup Your FTP Voyager Settings

There are two steps to backing up FTP Voyager's setting.
First, make sure that FTP Voyager is closed before saving or loading any of these settings. This ensures that all information is copied.
The first things to back up are the Site Profiles and Folder Shortcuts that you have created. The steps below will tell you how to do this.

  • Insert a blank, formatted floppy disk in the a:\ drive.
  • Open Windows Explorer.
  • Go to the path where you installed FTP Voyager. The default path is C:\Program Files\RhinoSoft.com\FTP Voyager.
  • Right-click on the file named "FTPVoyager.ftp".
  • Select Send To and send the file to your 3-1/2 Floppy (A).
  • Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the file named "FTPVoyager.ftc".

FTP Voyager's Site Profiles and Folder Shortcuts have now been stored to disk. When you wish to restore these settings, simply replace the default FtpVoyager.ftp and FtpVoyager.ftc files with the ones that you have copied to your floppy disk.
Now you will need to backup some things from the registry. This will save your registration information and all other settings for FTP Voyager.
  • Click on the Windows Start button, select Run, and type "regedit" (without the quotes) in the Open: box.
  • Expand the directory named HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
  • Expand the Software directory.
  • Select Rhino Software
  • Under the menu labeled "Registry" in the toolbar, select "Export Registry File..."
  • Enter "ftpv.reg" as the filename and select your 3-1/2 Floppy (A) as the destination for the file.
  • Click on the Save button.

In order to import these settings, simply double-click on the file when you wish to import them. When prompted if you would like to add this information to the registry, click on Yes.

All of your FTP Voyager settings have now been loaded!
